November 23, 2013 – Boston, MA – The Faneuil Hall Christmas tree, which is 80 feet tall, is the centerpiece of the Faneuil Hall Blink! Light and Sound Extravaganza event running daily from 4:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. starting November 23, 2013 to January 5, 2014 at Faneuil Hall. The tree lighting ceremony, held on November 23, signals the beginning of the event and brings dozens of performers and thousands of spectators from Boston, New England, and beyond to Faneuil Hall.
November 23, 2013 – Boston, MA – Blink! is a light and sound show created in 2012 by the Faneuil Hall Merchants Association and the Mayor´s Holiday Special program to promote the holiday season, local business, and the Faneuil Hall tree lighting tradition. Blink! runs for six weeks, illuminating Faneuil Hall with thousands of lights synchronized to turn off and on to the rhythm of the Holiday Pops, who are part of Boston´s Symphony Orchestra.
November 23, 2013 – Boston, MA – Spectators, who waited for about three hours in cold temperatures to see the Faneuil Hall tree lighting on November 23, stare at the 83 feet tall lighted tree for the first time at the start of the Blink! Light and Sound event. The Christmas tree is the largest in the Northeast, surpassing the Rockefeller tree in New York City by seven feet. The Faneuil Hall Christmas tree contains over 30,000 lights and over 1,000 strobes that took 12 days to set up.
